SCC @ KIT
The SCC is the computing center for the KIT. It combines groups for the operation of the IT infrastructure of KIT with research groups on HPC fields, such as scientific computing, big data, or machine learning. The Tier-2 cluster HoreKa is also managed by the SCC. The project is steered by the Scientific Computing & Mathematics (SCM) division, which also takes a major role in the development services. Additionally, the Scientific Computing & Simulation (SCS) division provides teaching material on Research Software Engineering topics.
SSC @ Heidelberg University
The SSC provides resources on research software engineering for researchers at Heidelberg University. They already offer software development as a service, although limited to researchers from Heidelberg University. Due to their expertise, they take a major role in the offering of development services.
bwHPC
The bwHPC manages the HPC infrastructure of the state Baden-Württemberg, by providing shared resources for cluster operators. Through their competence centers, bwHPC offers support for researchers that is tailored toward specific scientific fields.
In contrast to bwRSE4PHC, the support doesn't contain active software development.
As a consequence, bwHPC may refer their users to the bwRSE4HPC project, if the user request is outside their typical expertise, while bwRSE4HPC may also refer users to bwHPC, if their request matches the expertise of the competence centers.
